 David (Chicago, IL native) met Jody (Los Angeles, CA native) in Los Angeles in 1990. After designing for sportswear Companies in Los Angeles, they fell in love, got married and formed Casa de Rodriguez in 1992. David and Jody Rodriguez, both graduates of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, started out hand-crafting jersey-knit caps and hats for California’s surfing crowd and soon progressed to designing custom wears for the ultra hip shops in Los Angeles, New York City and Tokyo, Japan. 

David and Jody realized the next logical step was to move to New York City, the home of the fashion world. In October 1994, They relocated their business and took up residence in a four story brownstone in Spanish Harlem. The space became their design center, manufacturing hub, showroom and home. Casa de Rodriguez’ hats and accessories were soon selling out at such high end boutiques as Barney’s, Nordstrom’s and Henri Bendel. 

By August 1996, new national accounts around the U.S. and booming business with Japanese retailers enabled Casa de Rodriguez to expand into a 1,500-square-foot loft space store/design studio /showroom and home on Spring Street, in SoHo, selling to New York’s uber-chic, tourists and celebrities. 

Progression and enthusiasm to build the Rodriguez brand in the U.S. and the expansion of international wholesale markets, led Casa de Rodriguez to move their atelier/store to the Lower East Side, 156 Stanton Street, New York City. That’s where you’ll find the husband  & wife team of Casa de Rodriguez designing and manufacturing fine, high end, hand crafted, seasonal collections of hats (for men, woman and children), handbags, mittens, scarves, and hair accessories. In Japan Rodriguez products are sold at H.P. France, CA4LA, RESTIR, MITSUKOSHI, CHEZ UNAUN, ABAHOUSE INTL, YAGI TSUSHO.
